Letter from the Director

Margaret Moore
NCWP Director

Dear Law Enforcement Leader,

We are personally inviting you to attend the National Center for Women & Policing's eighth annual leadership conference to be held April 22-26, 2003 in Los Angeles, California. With over 400 of the top women law enforcement leaders from local, state and federal law enforcement agencies throughout the conference expected to participate, the conference provides an unparalleled opportunity for networking and professional development.

The conference program will provide participants in-depth analysis and best practices information on some of the biggest challenges facing law enforcement today-increasing women in policing, combating human trafficking and understanding and countering terrorism. Special all-day sessions prepare you for the highest ranks of law enforcement, assessment centers, and auditing your agency to prevent sex discrimination and increasing opportunities for women.

The conference program emphasizes the imperative for women law enforcement leaders to use their influence to increase the numbers of women in policing at all ranks and to promote progressive reforms of criminal justice policies. The general assemblies and breakout sessions give participants a deeper understanding of the impacts greater numbers of women make on the culture, operations and efficacy of law enforcement, and provide the specific tools and strategies you need to increase the role and impact of women in your law enforcement agency.

We hope you will accept our invitation to attend-and that you will encourage other leaders from your agency to also attend. We offer substantial discounts for agencies sending groups of five or more.

We look forward to seeing you in Los Angeles-as we work to change the face of policing and reduce violence in our communities.

Sincerely,

Margaret Moore, Director
Former SAIC, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms
